Report Shoes approached DOE with an intriguing exhibit challenge; to convert a suite at the Venetian hotel in Las Vegas into a complete showroom for their Signature shoe collection. The problem? All the existing furniture needed to remain in place. The solution? Build around it. The bed was concealed by a footwear stage that featured an illuminated display surface, flat panel television and overhead lighting. Other furniture elements were similarly disguised by shelving and graphic fixtures to the point where the room was virtually unrecognizable as a guest suite. Just open the door and SHAZAM! You’re in a SOHO shoe boutique. The exhibit was used as Report’s offsite showroom for WSA—the World Shoe Association trade show. It was extremely well received and won a “Best in Show” award for its category.
Following the success in Vegas, Report Shoes returned to Dept of Energy for the design and production of a photo set for a shoot in New York. Working in collaboration with Report Shoes and drawing from design inspiration identified by them, DOE created a uniquely sculpted piece to show off Report’s high-fashion footwear.
The nine-foot-tall structure was built out of hand-carved foam and gel coated to achieve a range of shapes and finishes. The set featured an illuminated stage that lit the gloss, satin, and mirror finishes from beneath. The multiple levels allowed Report to arrange a variety of eye-catching shots from all angles around this work of art and provided them with stunning imagery for all their web, print, and exhibit needs.
